What causes insomnia / disturbed sleep?


The causes of insomnia or disturbed sleep are many. We distinguish between two main groups:In the first group does not exist any external cause. There is no disease or external factor that explains persistent sleeplessness.



The second group is called secondary insomnia. Sleepless is caused by an underlying disease or cause. It may be leg cramps at night, nasal polyps and difficulty breathing at night, it may be drugs or other external conditions that disrupt sleep. There are a variety of reasons.

  •         Avoid large meals before bedtime
  •         Avoid hard physical training the last 3 hours before bedtime
  •         Incorporate a regular rhythm to go to bed and get up. In the morning, you stand up to a fixed time, regardless of how much or little you have slept
  •         Avoid sleep a day
  •         Provide a comfortable low temperature in the bedroom. Prevent light or noise
  •         Do not use the bed for anything other than sleep and possibly sex
  •         Get out of bed if you are lying sleepless more than 30 minutes
  •         Calm yourself with a night or two without sleep is harmless, although it is very exhausting
