One can imagine the shock and horror that invade a person who, never having ever seen a lamprey in their natural habitat, you will come across a falling from the sky, or moving ominously in the background of your home. This is what has happened in recent days, as reported by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF & G), when many Alaskans warned of horrible fish fallen from heaven, found in gardens or parks; After analyzing the cases, the authorities of ADF & G confirmed that it was lampreys and that although their appearance can not but generate some fear, the phenomenon does not involve risks to the population.
But how is it that these fish suddenly start falling from the sky? Environment officials gave Alaska a simple and plausible explanation: the gulls would collect lampreys in search of food, and then letting them fall to the ground.
