Amazing pictures of the Murcia region of Arabia Terra, published by the European Space Agency reveal enigmatic blue 'spots' that appear to be water.
They are images taken by the Mars Express Orbiter, showing how two craters on Mars appear to have water tanks on their funds. However, the European Space Agency (ESA) said that the mysterious 'gaps' are nothing more than an illusion: it is in fact, darker than the background accumulated during the course of the millennia geological sediments.
Just as on Earth, winds constantly change the appearance of the Martian landscape, over time, forming dunes and smooth rocks, among many other geological phenomena.
Mars winds speeds exceeding 100 kilometers per hour, creating fabulous sandstorms that last for days or even months.
Thus, these same winds managed to accumulate particles of volcanic rock at the bottom of the craters of the image, the optical effect per share reflect a blue color, similar to that which may correspond to the reflection of water.
