Thomas Alva Edison was an American inventor. More than a thousand inventions earned him fame and fortune, and became the most famous inventor of modern history.
Thomas Alva Edison was born on February 11, 1847 in Milan, Ohio. Son of Samuel Edison and Nancy Matthews. Edison would relate, as an adult, who once defended his mother a teacher who claimed that it was useless, he was responding to great things.
That episode marked him for life, as he promised himself that he would work hard to prove that your mother was right and fill it with pride. That was how deeply he gave to his studies, reading everything he could get his hands on their own investigating and experimenting with what they learned.
It is said that nothing was ten years old when he had read the works of Newton Green and Parker. What is certain is that from boy was born a growing passion for physics and mechanics and consequently to invent mechanisms to help more easily perform all sorts of tasks. Some of his first experiments had bad results and came to cost even lose their first jobs.

After selling newspapers, I got a job as a telegraph operator and later as the "Western Union". In 1869, at twenty years old, he patented his first invention, a mechanical system to issue the electoral vote that was not used because it could facilitate an electoral fraud.
He settled in Menlo Park, New Jersey, decided to engage in scientific research and invention. He did, and soon created a series of attempts improved the telegraph service. However, the invention that made him famous was the phonograph, which he patented in 1877 and caused the astonishment of the people, who often called him "The Wizard of Menlo Park". Quadruple sale of the Telegraph to the "Western Union" gave him enough funds to build a laboratory in which he developed most of his great inventions.
Edison inventiveness led him to dabble in various fields and develop hundreds of inventions, from the ancestor of the cinematograph ("Kinetoscope") to perfecting the incandescent lamp (commonly attributed to him by mistake).
Edison died in 1931 become an international celebrity. It has often been accused of plagiarism and stealing some of his inventions. They are also known some of his unethical tactics to discredit the inventions of other scientists, such as financing the invention of the light in order to discredit alternating current Nikola Tesla chair. Beyond the controversy, it is undeniable the great contribution of Thomas Edison to science and its application to everyday life, and its great influence over hundreds of subsequent inventors.
