The February 19, 1953 was born in La Plata, Buenos Aires, political, lawyer and current president of Argentina Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. He studied law at the National University of La Plata.
There she met her future husband, Nestor Kirchner (1950-2010), president of Argentina between 2003 and 2007. During the military dictatorship of Jorge Videla, Cristina and Nestor decided to move to Santa Cruz, where they formed a law firm. In 1989 he was elected provincial deputy of Santa Cruz and in 1995 national senator in the same province.
Two years later he resigned and went on to take over as national deputy for Santa Cruz. In both instances he maintained strong differences with the government of Carlos Saul Menem.
From 2001-2005 he served as chairman of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs. In 2005 he was elected senator for the province of Buenos Aires, a position he held until 2007, when she became the first woman to win the presidential elections. Of its mandate as the re-nationalization of the company YPF, the Equal Marriage Act and the Universal Child Allowance stand. In the presidential elections of 2011, with 54.11% of votes, he agreed to a second term.
