The July 7, 2000 went on sale the ninth game of the "Final Fantasy" series for Playstation. This role-playing game was developed by the Japanese company Squaresoft, founded in September 1986. 

Final Fantasy IX revive many aspects of the first installments of the series, both the plot and the way to play. The first game of the series was launched in 1987 for the Nintendo console.

 It was designed by the then director of Squaresoft, Hironobu Sakaguchi, to save the company from bankruptcy. The artist responsible for creating the characters was Yoshitaka Amano and composer Nobuo Uematsu was in charge of music. 

The hit game was just the first step in the creation of the video game franchise fourth longest in history (after Super Mario Bros., Mega Man and The Legend of Zelda). The various installments of Final Fantasy can be played on platforms like Playstation, Nintendo, Xbox, Xbox 360 and Wii, among others. In addition to games, the franchise includes animated films and anime.
