Cooper Kupp's Week 1 status is unknown due to a hamstring issue.

The Los Angeles Rams will face the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1 and are hoping Cooper Kupp will be available to start the season. After only recently returning to practise, the All-Pro wideout had a hamstring injury setback on Thursday. Sean McVay regards him as a day-to-day player.

"He got a little muscle strain so we're kind of taking it day by day with him," McVay stated. "I'd call it a setback, for sure." That, I believe, is correct."

Kupp missed practise early in training camp due to a hamstring injury, and he only returned last week when the Rams practised with the Denver Broncos.

When asked about Kupp's status for Week 1, McVay refused to give a specific schedule for his comeback.

"I think we take it a day at a time right now," McVay stated. "We'll see what happens." I'd like to be able to get him back straight now. We're obviously a lot better team when he's present, but in his absence over the last few months, he's been out there leading in whatever manner he can. We're hoping to find out when he'll be returning as soon as possible, but we have a lot of faith in the depth that's been established in that room."

Kupp is coming off a 2022 season in which he suffered a season-ending ankle injury that necessitated surgery in the offseason. Before being injured last season, Kupp seemed like one of the NFL's top wide receivers, with 75 receptions, 812 yards, and six touchdowns in nine games.

Hamstring injuries may be difficult to deal with, especially for wide receivers who rely on quickness and precision on routes to create windows for the quarterback to throw into. While the Rams will be cautious with Kupp, he has until next week to return to practise before his Week 1 availability is in doubt.
