On July 6, 1907 born in Coyoacán one of the most important artists in the history of Mexico: Magdalena del Carmen Frida Kahlo Calderón, known simply as Frida Kahlo.

He faced severe health problems for most of his life because of an accident in his youth. He underwent dozens of surgeries and spent long periods in bed-ridden.
This constant and prolonged suffering is one of the main themes of his paintings, which features more than 200 paintings, the most self-portraits. Among his paintings include "Self-portrait with velvet suit" (1926), "Self-Portrait on the border between Mexico and the United States" (1932), "Self-Portrait with Monkey" (1938) and "The Two Fridas" (1939).
For years, Frida conducted an intense relationship with the Mexican muralist Diego Rivera. They married in 1929, divorced 10 years later and then married a second time.
He also rubbed shoulders with famous artists of the time such as Pablo Picasso, André Breton (who invited her to France to exhibit his paintings), Marcel Duchamp and Wassily Kandinsky. The painter died on July 13, 1954 in Coyoacan. His work gained worldwide recognition for many years after his death, during the 1970s.
